San Francisco Mission District/Castro
The Mission District houses the 6th California mission, Mission Dolores which is the oldest standing structure in San Francisco. This neighborhood houses art, cafes, restaurants, and used clothing stores. The Castro District that is within the Mission District is know as the Gay mecca. The Castro comes alive at night as Castro Theatre's neon marquee lights up and bars from the Mint to the Midnight Sun get busy. Every year on the last Sunday in June Market Street is taken over for the San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade where thousands of people take to the streets. |
