San Francisco's Gay & Lesbian Bars

For decades, San Francisco has had a versatile gay and lesbian scene, varying from bouncin' nightclubs to rugged leather-and-chain bars to laid-back lounges. The scene has always been flourishing with an assortment of various interests. Check out the Cafe Flore on Market Street before nightfall and find an evening partner. If you're in the mood for a little disco when the evening arrives, there is always the Esta Noche on 16th. Then there is the Mezzanine which features a variety of styles from shirtless to bushy-haired queens dancing about the scene. A popular spot for a lesbian rendezvous is the Lexington Club on 19th St. At any rate, San Francisco's Gay & Lesbian scene caters to a variety of different styles and preferences.

Harvey's 500 Castro St. Located in the Castro, this upbeat gay bar draws a friendly crowd consisting of gays and lesbians. Serves food as well.

Martunis 4 Valencia St at Market. A hip little joint that serves martinis and allows patrons to partake in singing tunes around the piano from 9 on.

Midnight Sun 4067 18th St. This happening Castro video bar really comes alive with the younger crowd.

The Mint 1942 Market St. Among the best karaoke bars in the city, "The Mint" really packs in the younger crowd of song-goers.

Rawhide 280 7th St. At this dimly lit country and western themed bar and dance club, you'll find men in chaps as well as plenty of country and bluegrass music.

The Stud 399 9th St. Nothing but good times in this energetic night club, which is also a popular spot for gay dancing and even has a lesbian night.
